Paying for My Holiday Sins

When we got back from the holidays, I decided it was time to pay up for our gastronomic sins. December was a month long vacation from cooking, washing dishes and dieting. It was also a whole month of parties, weddings, nights out... and LECHON (suckling pig dish) - the ultimate diet sin.

So my cooking at the start of this new year has been healthIER. Some samples of the low fat dishes I've done below. Sorry for the quality of the pictures - I was using my mobile phone camera.

Kenko Reflexology & FISH Spa

So far this has to be the weirdest treatment I've ever tried - or even heard about.

After a whole afternoon of walking around Grand Indonesia (which is REALLY grand), hubby wanted to treat me to the spa. My feet really hurt even after resting for a snack and I just wanted to have a regular foot reflexology but he insisted I try something new. He even volunteered to go with me if I had the Fish Foot Spa, instead of a regular foot massage. And to sweeten the deal to get me a shoulder massage to go with it. How can I say no?

First we were given a locker to place all our things - no valuables and BBMs to bother with while Dr. Fish was massaging us. They provided us with slippers to change in and a towel for wiping our feet after the treatment. Then our feet were washed to make sure that no oils or lotions harmed the fish.

You can choose small, medium or large fish. "The larger the fish, the more they tickle" was how they explained it. The woman recommended we try the medium fish first and move up to large after a few minutes.

The Medium Fish seemed to love my feet.
See how much more of them are on mine (top) than my hubby's (bottom)?

After dipping my feet in, I couldn't stop squealing with laughter. 5 minutes into the medium fish "pond" and we were walking over to the small fish. I never thought of myself as ticklish but these fishies sure knew how to do it. So if you're ticklish, better to start with the small ones or you will absolutely DIE from laughter.

The much more bearable Small Fish

I wasn't a believer. How could these fishies relax me better than a good foot rub?! But the combination of the laughter, the pleasant small-fish nibbles and the AMAZING shoulder massage (which covered the entire back, neck, back of the head, arms and hands) was miraculous.

We left the Fish spa amazed at how much softer and smoother our feet felt. My really tense back was so relaxed and my feet no longer hurt - not a single trace of pain! This is a must try!

I can't imagine how the full body one works though. Yes, there is a FULL BODY FISH SPA. Eeeeeeee....

The Large Fish I'm not brave enough to try - yet.

Starting a Blog

I don't really know why I'm doing this. Perhaps it was because of my shrink. Or maybe it was Julie & Julia. Most probably because I'm tired of flooding my FB with pics of my cooking and subjecting my poor friends to every minute detail of my boring life as a housewife. But mostly it is the compulsion to record my new life as a housewife in a new country.

These moments will never come back. And in 3 years or so, it will be a new country and a whole new experience. I want to remember every moment of wonder, every triumph in learning to be a proper housewife, and all the realizations/embarrassments in between.
